In early 2006, Alvin's parents helped us to check out our "pat chi" at Lo Tit Pat to choose the best date for our big day. There were a few choices, i.e. March 2007, June 2007, July 2007, October 2007 and November 2007. March 2007 is too early for us to get prepared while October & November 2007 are too late. We wanted it on a Saturday so after thorough discussion with our families, we finally chose 09 June 2007.
Next we started to choose the venue for our wedding banquet.....

We started to scout around for the perfect venue a few months after the confirmation of our wedding date. We were a bit passive as we did not have any idea on the theme or concept. However, time was on our side as we have more than a year to prepare so we took our own sweet time. But our families were rushing us to confirm the venue as it needed advance booking. So I started to call up numerous hotels for quotations.
At first, Alvin's dad insisted on a Chinese restaurant for our wedding reception. Of course we do not want it. Luckily, Alvin's mum and sis tried to persuade him to have it in a hotel. As he is our Financial Consultant, he requested us to work out the budget. After vetting through, he finally agreed to have it in a hotel. We were so happy! We should thank Alvin's mum and sis, as they able to brain wash Alvin's dad :)
After comparing the quotations, we felt that Westin Hotel would be the perfect place for our wedding reception. As we have attended Danny & Maggie's wedding at Westin, we knew what to expect and liked the place very much. The ballroom is beautiful and presentable. At first, we were worried as 09 June 2007 was tentatively booked by someone else. I met Cindy from Westin and registered our interest and hoped that she would allow us to confirm our booking. At last, the other couple gave up and we were finally able to confirm a venue for our 'big' day.
Before we engaged the bridal studio, we did a lot of surveys on websites and magazines. Number ONE lesson learnt... Bridal shops closes every MONDAY!!! We were so silly as we didn't know, and we purposely took leave to go 'bridal shopping' to visit our short listed bridal studio with my old friend, Shirley aka my wedding planner. In the end, we only visited one studio that day.
After a couple of visits to the wedding fairs and bridal studios, we have decided to choose Love Vision at SS2. Although that branch is pretty new but we were attracted by their concept and their photography style. We tried so hard to bargain to get the best deal and we felt that the package they offered weren't that bad as there are 2 sites for outdoor shooting and another day at studio. Tentatively, we have scheduled our shooting for March 2007. We are really looking forward for that day...
Finally, we got our bonus for our wedding shopping! Initially we did some window shopping for our wedding bands. After a couple of visits, we still haven't found the perfect pair. We were really worried about whether we will ever find them. We did some research on magazines on the latest designs before we went shopping again. Then we spent another weekend at KLCC to look for more bands. At last we found a pair at The Love Diamond. The design is simple and nice with fine workmanship. We did drop by at Mikimoto, although, they specialise in pearl but their design for wedding bands are quite unique.
Few weeks later we went to both the De Gem outlets at Bangsar and 1 Utama. At last, we chose the eternity designs from De Gem.
23 Dec 2006 - We decided to take some pictures down memory lane.... our high school... We thought it would be a great idea as we knew each other from school (although we are from a different school). It was pretty good experience during the photo shooting... at least we now have some sort of practice on how to pose/smile before on our actual photo shooting at the bridal house. Guess who are the crews?! It's the "FAMILY" team from the Lee family: Alex Lee - Photographer, Rita Lee - Makeup Artist and Carmen Lee - Assistant.

Although it was a simple photo shooting session, we did a lot of preparation. I wore a white dress with dazzling jewelleries (like a typical bride) while Alvin wore a jacket. We also bought our own hand bouquet and brought along a lot of equipments e.g. lollipop and bubble machine to enhance our photos. We also wore our school uniforms - to recapture our school hood memories. The pictures were so cool! More to be reviewed after our wedding.
Alvin started to design our wedding card with pop-up effect. It was too costly although the artwork is nice. Then we brainstormed again and looked around for more samples on websites, magazines and also dropped by some wedding card shops to get inspirations. We were thinking of featuring a feather and a ribbon on our invitation card. So, Alvin re-designed based on this elements. We shopped around to get the feathers and ribbons. We also spent some shopping for Font CDs to find the perfect fonts for our card. Next, we looked for William, The Paper Boutique for quotation on our sample artwork and asked for his advise for better enhancement. We spent a lot of time changing the artwork. Think it took us about 1 month plus to finalise the card. William offered us a good deal and helped us a lot. He's really a nice guy and gave us a lot of additional assistance. He helped us bind the feathers and ribbons instead of having us do it by ourselves.. for no additional charges! At last, we have confirmed the card design in mid April and we are waiting for the final printout.
Although Westin is providing us with the chopsticks as door gifts, we decided to scrap the whole chopstick thingy. We planned a trip to Bangkok in January 2007 to look for our door gift. We walked to few shops to get the best bargain and finally we got the perfect gift from Chuk Tuk Chak Market. However, we faced a few problems. Firstly, the stocks and printing will take about 2 weeks to be ready but we would have left Bangkok way before that. We bought the gifts and requested our Bangkok friend to collect it for us. Secondly, we faced logistic issues as we now need to find a way to send it back home. The gifts are heavy and fragile. Luckily my sister's boyfriend, Boon Chin was willing to help us to carry it back but he only managed to get 100pcs due to the weight. We will have to wait for his next trip again. Unexpectedly, my sister in law was in Bangkok for her business trip in April and she helped us to carry another 100pcs back. Now, Boon Chin will only have to bring the last lot home. We hope that you all will like the gifts!
